Episodic Billing A/R Posting Effective 1/1/2022

Allegheny Software has made an adjustment to how posting will be handled when doing Episodic Billing, as agencies will not have to bill a RAP to Medicare after 1/1/2022.

When a RAP or Final is billed – HHC 3000 will check to see if an Invoice is already there, if there is not invoice added, then it will be posted. If an Invoice is already posted- it will not post again.

When posting Episodic Billing, HHC 3000 will post as of the Start date of billing period first, unless a Security Date is preventing it. If a Security Date is preventing posting as of the Start Date of the Billing Period, then it will post as of the End Date of the Billing, unless a Security Date is preventing it. If a Security Date is preventing posting of the End Date, then it will post as of the date the claim was generated.

Notice of Admission- Effective 1/1/2022

Notice of Admission

Effect 01/01/2021 CMS is requiring agencies to submit a Home Health Notice of Admission (NOA) instead of RAPs on and after 01/01/2021.

Per CMS guidelines (MLN Matters MM12256)

  • HHA must submit a NOA to their MAC within 5 calendar days from the start of care date. The NOA is a one-time submission that establishes the HH POC and covers contiguous 30-day POCs until you discharge the individual from Medicare HH services
  • All patients receiving HH services in 2021 whose services will continue in 2022, agencies should submit a NOA with a one-time, artificial “admission” date corresponding with the “From” date of the first period of continuing care in 2022
  • There will be a non-timely submission reduction in payment amount tied to any late NOA submissions when you don’t submit the NOA within 5 calendar days from the start of care.

Update for Bulk Attachment Printing

An enhancement has been made to the software to allow for bulk attachment printing.  When attachments are added to patient activity items, and the user needs to print all documents, the user would select the Print all Documents  button.

The user would then be prompted to enter Report Parameters. The user can choose to Include ZIP file of Attachments, and this with download all attachments, attached to the patient activities, for selected timeframe into a ZIP file to allow for quick printing. This will not download attachments attached to the patient, only activities.

This is available with Version 6975.

Update to COVID-19 Screening in Main Software

On June 17, 2021, the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) issued new Emergency Temporary Standards (ETS) that specially apply to employers that provide “healthcare services”.  The ETS address COVID-19 precautions and employer obligations.  Some of the standards have an effective date of July 5, 2021.

Employers who fall under the scope of OSHA COVID-19 ETS are required to screen employees before each work day and/or shift for COVID-19 symptoms.  Employers can determine what type of screening they use.  The ETS requires employers to remove employees from the workplace who are COVID-19 positive, suspected to have COVID-19, been in contact with COVID-19 positive person, or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.  More information on the OSHA ETS  is available at www.osha.gov/coronavirus/ets. (29 CFR 1910, subpart U)

In response to the new standard related to employee screening, Allegheny Software has updated the COVID-19 Screening Tool available in the Main Software.  The Employee Screening tool now has the additional screening questions required by ETS.  (See below).  The additional questions will be available  on the tool for Employee Screenings dated on/after July 1, 2021.   The updates to the tool are available with Main Software Version 6924.
